Greetings, noble adventurers, rogues, and people who press the refresh button too often!
I want to step out from behind the curtain (and the code) to say this: the dice roller you've been using, through crits, fumbles and the occasional emotional breakdown, is no longer a small hobby site.
I built it for fun, hoping it might help the D&D community. It has swelled into a large, ungainly beast, and it demands more attention than my evenings can give it.
I'm an adult with responsibilities, a full-time job and a family. So I asked myself: how do I buy the time this community deserves?
My answer: build something that earns its keep, so I can reinvest that time into making this site a premier D&D tool.
With that goal in mind, meet my first attempt at app development: Legend Roller.
I spent many, many hours over several months forging not one but two of these magical artifacts, an iOS app and an Android app, each bringing the same dice-rolling joy to your pocket.
A d20 in the pocket is worth two under the couch.
What's in it
These are first-off-the-presses versions: fresh from the forge, a little rough around the edges, full of potential. Here is what the store listing promises [1]:
| Feature | What it does at the table |
|---|---|
| Quick Roll bar | One tap for the roll you make most |
| Any dice combo | d2, d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100, mixed in one roll |
| Drop lowest or highest | Advantage, disadvantage and 4d6-drop-lowest ability scores |
| Presets | Save your attacks, spells and skill checks |
| Roll history | Scroll back when someone asks "wait, what did you roll?" |
| Themes and colours | Match the app to your character |
| Haptics and sound | Your phone buzzes on a roll |
Why it costs 99 cents
The app costs 99 cents (USD) [1][2]. That tiny coin of appreciation does three things:
- It helps me cut back the ads on this website (a public service, really).
- It buys me time to keep building useful and delightful D&D tools.
- It keeps this corner of the internet alive for everyone who still believes in imagination, spreadsheets and the occasional natural 20.
So if you've enjoyed this online dice roller, or you simply like the idea of supporting a human typing feverishly somewhere, I'd be deeply grateful if you picked up the app. It costs less than one d20, and it will never roll under the fridge.
Try it, test its limits, and send suggestions through the contact form, or find me on X as @dnddiceroller.
This project began as a hobby, became a passion, and, with your support, might become a proper quest. Help me break the shackles of my day job and I will pledge myself full-time to this community.
Prefer paper? This post is also in the free books.
Now go forth. Roll often. Roll true. And remember: behind every critical failure lies a story worth telling.
—Arthur, Dungeon Master (occasionally also Customer Support, QA, and Sandwich Maker)
Update, September 2026: the iOS app is now on version 2.0.0 [1].

Table Talk
James: Ninety-nine cents for dice I can roll free on the website. Explain yourself.
Arthur: The website stays free. The app buys the time to keep it that way, with fewer ads.
James: So I'm paying you to show me fewer ads.
Arthur: You're paying for a Quick Roll bar, presets and a roll history. The fewer ads come free.
James: Roll history is dangerous. Now everyone can see my natural 1s.
Arthur: That's the point. When the table asks "wait, what did you roll?", you scroll back instead of arguing.
James: Fine. Tip for new players: save your attack as a preset before the session, not mid-fight.
Arthur: And set 4d6 drop lowest once, so character creation takes one tap. Then send me the bugs through the contact form.
James: You want bug reports from the man who rolls 1s for fun?
Arthur: Especially from you. Nobody tests the low end harder.
